Yankee Candle Collection

Hey guys,

I am absolutely obsessed with candles at the moment and thought it was about time I wrote a post on the ones I’m loving. Now I have way too many favourite scents and brands to talk about so I thought I’d narrow it down to just Yankee Candle as I think they’re a brand you just can’t go wrong with.

First of all I want to talk about the Christmas scents, I don’t want to talk about them too much as I know they’re now going to be discontinued and they don’t often repeat scents the following year. I had 3 favourite scents in the 2015 range, these were ‘Christmas Eve’, ‘Red Apple Wreath’ and ‘Candy Cane Lane’. They are all pretty sweet smells and ‘Red Apple Wreath’ is a gorgeous spiced apple scent that stays around for hours once you’ve burned it for a while. Luckily I was able to get my jars half the price, in the new years sales.

I also have an oil burner and have been purchasing a lot of wax melts, these are around £2 and my favourite way of testing scents. My favourite ones so far are ‘Clean Cotton’, ‘Lemongrass and Ginger’ and ‘Honey Blossom’, these happen to all be really fresh scents. I find that clean cotton in particular can be really over powering if left to burn for any longer than about an hour. The oil burner itself is gorgeous to look at and my favourite way to burn the candles.

The final two candles I wanted to talk about are ‘Wedding Day’ and ‘Shea Butter’, now ‘Wedding Day’ is a special scent, it was brought by my brother and his fiance for Christmas and I can’t bring myself to burn it yet. ‘Shea Butter’ was bought for me on Valentines Day by Jake, I love this scent and had been debating whether to buy it for a couple of months. It smells of a really light coconut body butter, such a good mix of sweet and fresh.7sAUChce

Because I’m such a candle enthusiast Ive also decided to have some Wedding Day candles dotted around our venue on our big day, I just couldn’t resist!

Let me know some scents/brands that you guys are loving, I’m constantly on the look out for newbies!

My ‘go to’ shoes..

Hey guys,

I LOVE my shoes and as much as I wish I could wear heels everyday, I’m much more into my comfy shoes and flats. I just thought I’d write a post on the shoes that I ‘go to’ with any outfit and also where you can buy them.

I’m going to start off with one of the reasons I wanted to write this post, to show off my new babies! I saw these last year and everywhere I looked, these were sold out. Until a couple of weeks ago I saw an ad come up on the internet showing these beauties, I instantly clicked on them and got my card out ready to buy them, I didn’t even care how much they were going to cost me. Luckily for me, the only had 1 pair left, which were in my size and they were in the sale at Office for £35!! Rose gold is my absolute favourite at the minute and I just couldn’t say no.

These next pairs are my main ‘go to’ shoes, I find them super comfortable and think they look good with anything from jeans to skirts. The ones on the right are Schuh own brand, they cost £25 and I can’t wait to wear these when it gets a little warmer with some light denim jeans, I can already tell I’m going to get lots of wear out of these. The ones in the middle are from New Look, I got these in the sale for about £6. These took a long time to wear in as the material is quite hard, however I think they are a gorgeous statement piece. They can glam up a plain outfit and I find it so hard to turn down something with all over glitter. Finally, the ones on the right are from Primark and cost around £4, these speak for themselves, I wear a lot of black and these will go with everything. I’ve already worn these a lot and they were really easy to wear in, the only problem I faced was the sizing of them, I am a size 3 and I found them quite big so would recommend trying them on beforehand.

Finally, I have my Vans, I have gone through so many black Authentic pairs but fancied something a little different so got these beautiful glitter Sk8-hi’s from Schuh, these cost around £60. I had seen a few different designs on vans recently, none of them really took my fancy but as I stated earlier, I can never say no to anything glittery so I just knew I had to have them. They also do some slip-on versions but decided these would add a little more diversity to my shoe collection.

So, those were my ‘go to’ shoes and I absolutely love them. As I said previously, I am a huge van of comfy shoes and who says flats can’t be glamourous?! I hope you liked the post and I would love to hear any recommendations you may have!

Valentines Day

Hey guys,

I don’t need a particular day for me to appreciate my fiancé but I LOVE Valentines day. I love any excuse to really celebrate your love for someone close to your heart, whether that be a friend, partner or even a family member. The main thing for me is the time you spend with each other, unfortunately my fiancé is busy at work today so I’m round my family’s celebrating my Mum’s birthday. Although me and Jake had an evening in last night with some lovely food and drink. We exchanged our presents and I thought I’d do a post on what he brought me.

He started off our evening by coming home from work with a big bunch of colourful roses and the biggest bar of Galaxy chocolate that I have ever seen. I love a romantic gesture and the flowers were just beautiful.

He had clearly been reading my blog as on my previous post, (Lust list for January) I had written some items that I was loving and planning to buy myself in the near future. Jake passed me a bag and written on the tag was ‘no longer on your lust list’, when I opened the bag I couldn’t believe what was in there, it looked like heaven! The ‘Naked 3’ palette, a Jo Malone cologne (IN POMEGRANATE NOIR!!!!) and the ‘Oils of Life’ gel face cream by The Body shop. Any girl will know that partners often blank out when you’re sitting there running on about what you want when it comes to anything girly, this is why I was so shocked that he got it SOO right!

As well as them presents he also got me a large Yankee Candle jar in the scent ‘Shea Butter’, I had recently been after a fresh smelling scent as I’m getting a bit fed up with all the sweet smells I have been purchasing. The candle he bought me is just what I was looking for, it smells like a coconut scented body butter, but I love that the smell isn’t too over powering.

The final present was a bag full of sweeties and a salted caramel hot chocolate stick, for anyone who knows me I have SUCH a sweet tooth. My favourite is anything sour and Jake must’ve gathered that as there were two paper bags full of sour balls and a tub of toxic wastes.

I had the best night with Jake and I think it’s really important to take time out of both our busy days to sit down and enjoy a night in together. To me, with days like Valentines day, its not the money you spend its the company you spend it with and I am one LUCKY girl!

Thanks for reading, what did you guys get up to this year?

Wedding Update

Hello guys,

467 days to go until our big day! I’ve completed a lot of Wedding tasks recently and thought I’d put up a post on what’s been going on. In the past two weeks I’ve been able to book entertainment, arrange and design our cake, and pick our florist. Considering I had no idea of a theme this time a few months ago I have now pretty much decided on colours and designs for the main parts to the Wedding. Everyone said before the planning started that you’ll get to a stage where everything will fall into place, I’m hoping that stage will come soon because I am super indecisive and must have changed my mind with designs about 747363 times! The most recent task we have confirmed is the save the dates, we ordered and paid for them last week and I cannot wait to get them out to our guests, they’re absolutely beautiful.

The next task to tick off my list is another dress appointment, I’m getting mine made by a family friend who knows exactly what type of dress will be perfect for me, which is what I need because, as I said before, I am SOO indecisive. My next appointment is to measure out the fabric and get it ordered. I’m super excited to be able to see the fabric again and see what the designs are shaping up to look like. I’ve also got to book a videographer and get my bridesmaid dresses sorted, I have four bridesmaid and two flower girls, I’m 99% sure on colours but want to make sure the girls are happy with what look I’m going for as the most important thing to me is that they’re comfortable and happy.

I looked on my Timehop a couple of days ago and it showed a text conversation between me and my Mum a year ago today, it was about meeting up and getting the plans underway as we decided 2017 was the year we wanted to get married. I can’t believe what we’ve sorted out since then, every time I think about our Wedding I get butterflies. I can already tell it is going to be the most amazing day of our lives!

Hope you enjoyed the update, let me know if you have any tips to control the stress whilst wedding planning!

First completed cross stitch

Hey guys,

Just before Christmas I decided I would really love to get into some crafting and something I thought would be fun was cross stitching. I could only really find vintage designs and standard pictures when I was looking for designs. I wanted to create something fun, something that I would put up in my house. Then, for Christmas, I recieved a book, which turned out to be one of my favourite presents, it was from my fiance, Jake.

This book consists of 50 designs to cross stitch, most of them are hilarious and are definitely not for the easily offended! There is an introduction which gives more detail on how to stitch and the background of the author (Julie Jackson). It also comes with a range of fonts in the back to make it easier to design your own patterns.

It was really difficult deciding what stitch to do first, I wanted to do one for someone as I thought it would give me the enthusiasm I needed to keep it up, and I decided my fiance would be the perfect person. It took me a few weeks to complete, I wasn’t doing it every day, about 3 times a week for an hour or so. For my first stitch I couldn’t believe how it turned out and Jake was very happy with it! Below is my finished product.

I find stitching really therapeutic, especially when you can put your headphones in and get lost in the craft of it. It got me into considering selling the ones I made, if its a hobby I enjoy doing, why not make money from it?! So I’m planning on getting and Etsy store up and running soon. I love having this as a hobby as before stitching and blogging I would struggle to find something to do in my spare time. Below you’ll find a couple more examples of designs in the book and what I’m intending to stitch next.next stitch
